De Beers Group is recruiting an Able Seafarer (Deck) (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Duties
- You will be responsible for carrying out various duties necessary for the efficient maintenance and operation of the deck department onboard the vessel
- Your role will:
- Performing helmsman or lookout duties
- Performing mooring and berthing duties as directed
- Performing flight deck duties when helicopter operations are conducted and stands by with fire-fighting and ancillary equipment for possible emergencies
- Preparing and launching lifeboats/rescue boats by using davits, derricks or cranes as directed
- Operating cranes and derricks for the loading and discharging of stores and equipment
- Maintaining the ship’s structure by chipping, scraping and preparing steel or wood surfaces for the application of primer, varnish or topcoat as directed
- Assisting in the rigging of machinery
- Adheres to Company policies and procedures relating to health, safety, security and environmental issues
- Operates cranes and derricks for loading & discharging of stores/spares
Requisites
- Formal qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- SAMSA Competency Certificate STCW 2010 Able Seafarer Deck [AB]
- Additional requirements:
- Legal or Operational Compliance
- Maintenance Skills
- Mobile equipment operating skills
- Role-specific knowledge:
- Sea going experience on deck of a vessel
