Technician: Metering

Description

• The role of Technician: Metering is to execute and direct all metering activities for the company and control and maintain metering systems and installations to ensure correct and accurate measurement of customer consumptions
• To perform customer disconnection and reconnections and explain customer bill in relation to their monthly readings
• To assist in performing strategic initiatives to ensure the department fulfils its mandate and achieves its strategic objectives

• PATTERSON GRADE: C4

Duties

• Provide input to prepare the annual metering section CAPEX and OPEX budget
• Effective control and purchase all materials and equipment in terms of delegated powers and the procurement policy
• Adhere, monitor, and control the budget and cost control systems and procedures
• Collaborate with cross functional teams, including operations, engineering and finance to analyse metering data and support decision making processes
• Compliance to CENORED Policy and Standards
• Administer metering systems
• Administer meter installation
• Ensure compliance with applicable housekeeping, health, safety and environmental regulations for personnel and equipment under control
• Maintain record keeping systems and /or facilitate system updates
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge and skills

Requisites

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
• N6 Electrical Engineering (added advantage)
• Three years’ experience in metering and revenue protection
• One-year supervisory experience
• Code BE driver license
• MV Authorization
• LV (400V) 3phase distribution system maintenance, operations and construction
• MV (11kV to 33kV) 3phase distribution system maintenance, operations and construction, which are substantiated
• Installations rules Paper 1 and 2 as well as Three Phase Unit Standard will be added advantage
• Required Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
• Design techniques, tools and principles
• Precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
• Apply NESC procedures up to 44KV
• Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Computer Aided Design (CAD) system
• Knowledge of LV and MV Meter wirings
