Assistant Financial Accountant

National Housing Enterprise is recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The incumbent reports directly to the Financial Accountant with the primary purpose to maintain General Ledger processing and reconciliations
  • The incumbent will be primarily charged with Supplier Payments; GL Maintenance; Value Added Tax; fixed asset; GL Reconciliation; budget administration and day-to-day accounting related responsibilities and activities associated with financial administration
  • Job Grade:C3
Duties
  • Ensure that transactions are done accurately, timeously and aligned with approved policies and procedures
  • Reviews correctness and validity of all accounts payable invoices; purchase orders and payment batches
  • Processes various monthly standard and misallocated correction GL journals
  • Coordinate the full spectrum of Value Added Tax administration
  • Prepare and maintain accurate GL account reconciliations
  • Maintenance of divisional budgets on the accounting system
  • Oversee maintenance of fixed asset register through consistent monthly routines
  • Supervision of the accounts payable function
Requisites
  • Competencies requirements Knowledge:
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of IFRS and Accounting Practices
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of the Namibian Income and Value Added tax regime
  • Skills and Behavioural Competencies:
  • Planning and analytical skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Report writing skills
  • Supervisory skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Degree in Finance and Accounting or equivalent
  • Five (5) years’ experience, in a computerized financial accounting environment, of which 2 years should be on a supervisory level
  • Articles will be a distinct advantage
  • Valid driver’s license
