Ashburton Investments is recruiting a Senior Financial Manager, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • To establish and maintain financial and management procedures for the business, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
Duties
  • Manage, oversee and implement the financial function in area of responsibility through the provision of detailed financial analysis and insight and value added reporting to aide decision making and strategic planning for the Segment
  • Monitor Segment budget, forecast and prior year variances and produce detailed commentaries on the monthly financial results
  • Reconciliation of budgets and forecast vs budget and forecast loaded on the financial system
  • Optimal balance sheet and margin management and ensure monthly financial reports are compiled and maintain responsibility for the integrity of the information through ensuring accurate reporting on financial results of the business
  • Oversee and review preparation of journals and verify correctness thereof
  • Analyse general ledger accounts in order to identify correctness of entries processed and reasonability thereof, Implement a framework to control financial performance against operational and cost targets and manage the escalation process to prevent potential risks which may lead to increased costs
  • Establish shareholder value through integrated frameworks, guidelines, policies, standards and resource optimisation
  • Manage process and operational risk on a day to day basis which includes monitoring and reporting
  • Ensure that necessary mitigating controls are implemented to reduce the operational risk to an acceptable level
Requisites
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant
  • 3- 5 years’ inclusive of completed articles, ideally within the financial service industry
  • The candidate should have the following Knoweldge and skills
  • Ability to understand and quantify risk
  • Ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong numerical reasoning skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to identify key drivers and opportunities to add to the increased Return on Investment for the Ashburton business
  • Have broad knowledge of th Asset Management Business Income Tax, Law and Accounting
  • Assertive with good comunications skills
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good level of resilience
  • Sound administrative skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of all financial instruments
