Nedbank is recruiting a Senior Legal Advisor, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- To provide proactive professional legal advice and risk management services to the NNH Group (including the Bancassurance Department) and internal clients to mitigate Nedbank’s legal risk
Duties
- Ensure legal advisors provide consistent legal advice that enhances the credibility and value-add of the function
- Ensure delivery on projects by planning individual activities according to business needs and monitoring actions
- Ensure implementation of the Legal Policy to mitigate and manage legal risk
- Participate in and provide advice to Management and committees on governance; regulatory; procedural and practice matters by attending; preparing and submitting papers and report
- Research and provide training to staff
- Report on legal risk management and processes
- Provide advice by responding to ad hoc risk requests and queries
- Improve business efficiency and minimize legal compliance risk by conducting gap analysis of business processes
Requisites:
- Abilities Requirements:
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in practical application of relevant Namibian legislation
- Self-starter with strong execution focus and ability to work independently and in team’s
- Essential Qualifications - NQF Level:
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
- Preferred Qualification:
- Post graduate Law Degree (LLB or Hons BA or BCom Law)
- Be an admitted legal practitioner in the High Court of Namibia, in terms of the Legal Practitioners Act, 1995
- Minimum Experience Level:
- 5 – 7 years’ experience, preferably in financial services industry
