Chief Risk Officer (CRO)

• Job grade: E3 (Paterson Grading)
• Access Bank Namibia is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead our risk management team. The CRO will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the bank's risk management strategy, ensuring robust risk governance, and protecting the bank from potential financial, operational and market risks

Duties

• Develop and implement the Country Risk Management framework in line with international standards
• Align risk profile with the bank's profitability and return objectives
• Articulate and communicate risk management policies and strategies
• Establish systems, processes, and infrastructure for effective risk identification, management, control, and reporting
• Define and cascade risk acceptance criteria and tolerance limits in country
• Oversee risk management functions across all business entities and ensure compliance with local policies and regulations
• Monitor and manage the overall risk profile
• Manage the risk division's budget and ensure alignment with business goals.
• Provide leadership to the risk team, develop talent, and promote the bank’s core values
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, standards, and regulatory reporting requirements
• Provide strategic guidance to ensure the achievement of both short- and medium-term group objectives

Requisites

• A minimum of a B-tech degree in any discipline. Relevant Masters’ degree will be an advantage
• Minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in risk management within the Financial Services Industry, of which at least 8 must have been in the Banking Sector and 5 years must have been at a senior management level
• Proven experience as a Chief Risk Officer or senior risk management role in the banking or financial services sector
• In-depth knowledge of risk management practices, regulatory requirements, and financial regulations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Relevant qualifications in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines. Advanced degrees or certifications (CFA, FRM) are an added advantage
• Good policy development and management capabilities

• Namibian citizen or permanent residence
