Nampower is recruiting a Head: Information Technology/Information Services, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
  • The incumbent is responsible for the planning, development, reporting, control, leading and management of the Information Services (IS)/Information Technology (IT) division
  • Formulating Information Technology and Enterprise Content Management policies and strategies which will ensure NamPower’s strategic vision achievement and compliance with relevant legislation in consultation with the Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Duties
  • Manage the activities of the Information Services function so that NamPower needs are optimally supported through available information and communication technology
  • Maintain a pragmatic approach to infrastructure development that incorporates Information & Communication Technology (ICT) policies & strategies that support NamPower's needs
  • Manage the Disaster/Recovery & IT Security activities and that risk assessments are performed annually so that it is identified and quantified initiate, and co-ordinate ICT needs, and identification processes, identifies and implements remedies to capacity limitations and ensures adherence to service level agreements
  • Oversee the development and management of an organisation-wide Enterprise Content Management programme
  • Co-ordinates the input regarding ICT possibilities for the resolution of work problems or productivity improvements
  • Implement a systematic reporting system and ensures that changes to the information/reporting system are coordinated
  • Manages and monitors the progress of major IT projects and ensures post-project assessment to determine whether all objectives were achieved
  • The incumbent will correctly manage the service level agreements, enforces efficiency measurements and takes remedial action where required
  • Analysing divisional budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be achieved and recommends allocations for both the capital and operating budgets
  • Assuming responsibility for the overall planning of replacements for primary and auxiliary equipment and making recommendations
  • Implementing the budget upon approval and monitoring the application thereof
  • The incumbent is responsible for leading the IS/IT divisions by managing appointments, promotions, and industrial relations issues
  • Ensuring staff training and development, performance management as well as the development career, succession plans and affirmative action plans with the support of the Human Capital BU
  • Ensuring the equitable distribution of responsibilities and accountabilities within the IS/IT Division to facilitate value addition and the attainment of the Division’s strategic objectives
  • Leading the division in such a manner as to foster innovation and technological excellence and creation of a favourable work environment
  • Ensuring that all employees in his/her area of responsibility are provided with appropriate safety, health and environmental training and personal protective equipment
  • Ensures that all employees in his/her area of responsibility are provided with the relevant tools that will ensure that they operate safely
  • Conducts safety, environmental and occupational hygiene audits and surveys with the support of SHEW employees to ensure that all risks and potential hazards have been identified and addressed
  • In conjunction with the SHEW section facilitates annual medical examinations of identified employees and investigation into and evaluation of industrial incidents and accidents to foster learning and ensure the future prevention thereof
  • In conjunction with the SHEW section participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and co-operates in the preparation of material and evidence for company use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations
  • Contributes to a safe work environment by adhering to NamPower’s SHEW policies and procedures
  • The incumbent serves as the liaison between the division and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is responsible for effective communication in his/her area of responsibility
  • Identifying and prioritising risks in his/she area of responsibility and responsible for implementing relevant mitigatory measures
Requisites
  • A relevant B Degree (Honours) in Information Systems/ICT/Computer Science (NQF 8)
  • A post graduate qualification i.e (MSc/MBA) will be added advantage
  • Eight (8) years relevant ICT and corporate management experience of which minimum of five (5) years should be at Senior Managerial level
