Kelp Blue is recruiting a Project Engineer, to be based in Lüderitz, Namibia.
Description
- We are seeking a dynamic and pragmatic Project Engineer to join our Operations Support team
- The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing various operational support functions, ensuring seamless integration between engineering and marine operations
Duties
- Project Planning:
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, resources, and budgets for operations support activities
- Procurement & Contracting:
- Support procurement processes, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Handle contract negotiations and management
- Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control processes for fabrication and assembly activities
- Ensure all deliverables meet the highest quality standards
- Fabrication & Assembly:
- Coordinate with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within specifications
- Provide technical support and guidance as needed
- Budget Management:
- Monitor project budgets, control costs, and ensure the project stays within financial constraints
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Conduct risk assessments and implement contingency plans
- Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of project progress, changes, and key decisions
- Prepare reports and documentation for stakeholders
- Compliance:
- Ensure all operations support activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals
- Resource Management:
- Allocate and manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials
- Ensure efficient use of resources throughout the project
- Problem-Solving:
- Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during operations support activities
- Implement solutions to keep the project moving forward
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Regularly communicate with clients, stakeholders, and team members
- Provide updates on project status and address any concerns or questions
- Project Closeout:
- Ensure all operations support objectives have been met and deliverables are completed
- Conduct final inspections and obtain acceptance from stakeholders
- Prepare project closeout documentation and lessons learned reports
Requisites
- Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience (> 2 years) as a Project Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and quality control standards
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in project management software and tools
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
