Ohorongo Cement is recruiting a Packing Plant Supervisor, to be based in Tsumeb, Namibia.
Description
  • Reporting to the Packing Plant Foreman, the position ensures efficient daily cement bagging and dispatch operations in alignment with production schedules and cost targets
  • Responsibilities include overseeing cement storage, packing, and loading activities, coordinating closely with the Packing Plant Foreman
  • Key duties involve managing raw material movements, maintaining product quality through rigorous inspections, and collaborating with quality control teams
  • The role includes troubleshooting production issues, implementing process improvements, and supporting junior staff development
  • Additionally, the position supports maintenance activities and contributes to procedural reviews and risk assessments to uphold operational standards
Duties
  • Ensure participation and compliance with the Health and Safety Management System
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, aiming for zero non-conformances during internal and external audits
  • Manage packaging materials, pallets, and finished goods stock to ensure zero discrepancies, accurate records, and availability of required stock
  • Conduct weekly, monthly, mid-year, and year-end stock counts, ensuring accurate recording and communication to stakeholders and resolve stock discrepancies by analyzing production bookings, damages, and coordinating with relevant departments
  • Maintain high-quality standards according to ISO 9001, NAMS/EN 197, and internal guidelines
  • Assist in root cause analysis and recommend solutions for recurring issues related to packaging and loading
  • Identify training needs and assist in training team members
  • Coordinate cement production and loading activities to ensure timely delivery to customers
  • Coordinate loading activities with Sales Terminal and maintain effective communication with logistics
  • Ensure accurate recording of production figures, equipment downtime, and incidents
Requisites
  • Grade 12
  • A tertiary qualification is an added advantage
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office with basic knowledge of IT systems
  • Basic electrical and instrumentation knowledge
  • Knowledge of plant automation and control systems (PCS 7 and WinCC) is an advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage workload, take initiative, and make sound judgments
  • Good understanding of stock control requirements and objectives
  • Experience in a manufacturing industry will be advantageous
  • Understanding of quality requirements and specifications for materials and products
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and lead teams with varying educational levels
  • Good problem-solving capabilities
  • Training and coaching skills, supported by a solid technical process understanding
  • Fluency in English
  • Willingness to engage in further learning and development
  • Valid National Driver’s License
