DBN is recruiting a Manager: Management Accounting, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The Manager: Management Accounting plays a crucial role in overseeing the coordination and preparation of DBN’s monthly financial and management accounts, as well as annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
- This role further involves managing the overall budgeting process and conducting financial analysis by continuously refining forward-looking sustainability models and analyzing historical financial data

Duties
- Strategic Management:
- Plan, develop and implement business unit objectives
- Keep track of implementation of business unit activities in relation to objectives and deal with deviations and changes where required
- Monitor, evaluate, analyze and report on business unit activities
- Operational Management:
- Develop, refine and consolidate the Financial Forecast Model (Sustainability Model) to improve operational and strategic planning at an institutional an departmental level
- Translate and apply the results of the model into a consolidated and departmental level budget forecast
- Perform all relevant accounting functions, such as loan book analysis, monthly management accounts, interim financial statements, and prepare annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
- Manage the Loan Book by approving classifications and provisions, reconciling with the General Ledger, handling corrections, reviewing account statuses, and preparing synopsis reports while advising on deal structuring
- Ensure that new systems/functionalities are implemented to meet operational requirements and to optimize operational efficiency
- Financial Management:
- Develop annual budgets for all business units with other managers, HOD’s and Chief Financial Officer
- Monitor and control business unit spending, reviewing budget versus actuals and report as per requirements
- People Management:
- Lead and coach the financial accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Set performance standards/ key performance indicators for the team and track daily and/or accordance with the annual performance reviews
Requisites
- An Honours degree in Accounting/Finance (NQF level 8)
- Registered as Chartered Accountant (CA) and/or equivalent qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a financial industry with exposure to SAP, business processes, of which 2 years in a supervisory position
- Proficiency in accounting practices and principles, with knowledge of relevant laws, codes, and regulations
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Proficiency in financial management software and MS Office Suite with advanced MS Excel modelling skills
- Must have experience in computerized accounting systems preferably SAP and/or ABACUS
- Sound customer orientation / focus

- Interpersonal sensitivity and the ability to build strong work related relationships
- Business acumen and strategic thinking ability
