- Windhoek Consulting Engineers (PTY) Ltd is looking for an experienced Financial & Project Accountant to join our dynamic team
- This role will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of our projects, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making
Duties
- Financial Management and Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits
- Project Accounting:
- Oversee the financial aspects of project management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring
- Track and report on project costs, revenues, and profitability
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate and timely billing and revenue recognition
- Analyze project financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Compliance and Control:
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS)
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls
- Monitor compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate the financial impact of business decisions
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor other finance staff
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
- Provide training and support to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge
Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, NIPA) is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial and project accounting, preferably within the engineering or consulting industry
- Strong understanding of IFRS
- Proficiency in financial and managerial accounting principles and practices
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
