Rössing Uranium is recruiting a Project Engineer (Mechanical), to be based in Arandis, Namibia.
Description
- An exiting vacancy exists for a role of Project Engineer Civil reporting to the Superintendent Projects
- The successful incumbent will complete engineering and construction projects, by planning, organising, and controlling all elements of the project and executing the defined project within time, quality and with budget provisions
- The incumbent will provide functional design solutions, fulfil quality requirements, and ensure that all quality system procedures are adhered to as documented. The role is overall responsible to execute capital projects and provide technical support for operational projects
Duties
- Adhering to all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
- Supervising and ensures that contractors complete their tasks according to set plans, defines clear priorities to ensure production continuity
- Making assessment of Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and provide engineering solutions that are then used for firm costing, to develop the 5 Year Capital Plan
- Providing input and assistance to identify alternative engineering options by using technical expertise to evaluate the options presented to the project
- Responsible for identification, validation, justification and roll out engineering design projects by using engineering principles and liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Identifying project responsibilities, by determining the phases of the project, overseeing and co-coordinating the technical aspects of the project, through project coordination meetings and other forms of communication
- Assisting in rolling out the engineering strategy by keeping abreast with latest technological advancements
- Measuring and reports project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
- Allocating project resources appropriately and controls project costs, by approving expenditures and administering all contracts on the project
- Initiating cost saving ideas aimed at reducing overall area, and mine costs
- Recommending improvements to processes and provides technical support to other departments
Requisites
- Grade 12 with a recognized BSc/BTech degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering discipline (NQF level 7/8) with: a minimum of five (5) years post qualification in either project management, mining, construction, manufacturing industry
- Grade 12 with a recognized National Diploma degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering discipline (NQF level 6) with a minimum of seven (7) years post qualification in either project management, mining, construction, manufacturing industry
- Code B driving Licence
- A Police Certificate of conduct of not older than six months is required
- A record will not automatically disqualify candidates
- Other Qualifications:
- Post graduate diploma in project management and Msc /Meng in a relevant Engineering discipline will be an added advantage
- Asset management, CAPM, PMP, Leadership qualification will be an added advantage
- Required Competencies and Skills:
- Sound knowledge of relevant engineering discipline with a broad understanding of other engineering fields
- Sound knowledge of project management principles
- Strong person skills
