Namib Mills is recruiting a Manager (Silo Complex), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- To take total responsibility regarding effective functioning and maintenance of the silos and storage facilities; intake/out loading/grading of grain, stockholding, housekeeping/preventive maintenance and personnel management through proper management, planning and execution
- Including the management of all raw materials handled at the site
Duties
- Manage and Control:
- Realising production targets set
- Ensure corrosion Management
- Ensure proper housekeeping and fumigation
- Ensure a productive workforce
- Personnel management
- Ensure health and safety compliance at the workplace
- Ensure proper stock control to prevent losses
- Provides on-the-job training to assistants
- Budget Control
- Ensure good levels of productivity
- Maintain ISO Management System and Quality Standards
- Ensure adherence to ISO, HACCP and Health and Safety requirements
- Administration:
- Production planning to meet demand and checking, compiling of relevant reports
- Perform stock control and reconciliation of raw products
- Raw material intake into Silos and record all relevant documents
- Ensure that silos and equipment are well maintained
- Responsible for the time & attendance and capturing of leave for personnel
- Order fumigation poison and perform fumigation on silos as required
- Apply surface spray at silos and open area
- Ensure that scales are calibrated and corrected
- Maintain records as per Company requirements
- Prepare and submit monthly reports as required and ensure accuracy and relevancy
- Manage stock on all materials in and out of the site
- Ensure ISO awareness, training and motivation
- Corrective/preventative actions and provide timeous feedback
- Performs ad hoc tasks or projects as requested by management
- Assist the Plant Manager in the compilation of the annual budget
- Arrange calibration of measuring instruments to national and international standards of measurements
- Maintenance:
- Work according to safety standards
- Work distribution per job card and priority to ensure that all priorities are addressed timeously
- Scheduled maintenance planning and delegation thereof
- Inspects the relevant plants on the maintenance activities performed by artisans
- Ensure quality work done by all Artisans
- Ensure that maximum productivity is achieved through all equipment
- Identify hazardous working conditions to ensure an injury free work environment
- Identify improvements / projects
- Responsible for interdepartmental communication and relationship building
- Personnel:
- Always maintain a disciplined and a productive workforce
- Provides on-the-job training to personnel
- Identify and recommend needs for formal training to HR
- Manage and control time & attendance, leave and sick leave of workforce
- Manage and approve overtime
- Perform regular personnel evaluations
- Make recommendations for annual wage/salary increases
- Key Performance Areas:
- Implementation and control of systems to avoid stock losses
- Always ensure consistent acceptable productivity levels
- Always ensure consistent acceptable levels of housekeeping on premises
- Always ensure consistent health and safety compliance on the premises
- Ensure consistent preventive maintenance on equipment and control of fixed assets
- Always manage all stock levels and quality
- Manage the discharge of wheat vessels and loading of trucks
- Consistent adherence to food safety standards set at all times
Requisites
- Relevant Grain Grading Federation qualification (Maize grading theory and practical) will be beneficial
- Necessary qualifications recognised by the industry to perform proper and safe fumigation as and when needed
- Engineering Diploma (NQF 6) with 5 years relevant experience
- OR:
- Millwright, Electrician N6 (NQF6) with 5 years relevant experience
- Abreast with applicable Health and Safety regulations
- Required Skills and Competencies:
- Recognized track record of successful management of similar facilities
- Proficiency in English
- Computer literacy with working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, word and Outlook
