DBN is recruiting a Manager: Financial Accounting, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The Manager: Financial Accounting plays a crucial role in leading budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting processes to ensure the Bank achieves its mandate
- Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the manager oversees the bank’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies, while also contributing to the overall financial strategy
- Paterson Grade C3
Duties
- Strategic Management:
- Execute the bank’s strategic initiatives and utilize risk management frameworks to mitigate operational costs and losses
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process through coordinating, interrogating, and preparing detailed budgets
- Operational Management:
- Manage and implement the financial function in area of responsibility through the provision of detailed financial analysis and insight and value-added reporting
- Develop and implement frameworks to control financial performance against operational and cost targets and manage the escalation process to prevent potential risks which may lead to increased costs
- Lead and organize audit preparations, providing technical insights to the audit plan, and facilitating communication with auditors
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, financial statements, financial reporting and journal entries in compliance with IFRS
- Provide ongoing treasury back-office support
- Leadership:
- Lead and coach the financial accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Set performance standards/ key performance indicators for the team and track daily and/or accordance with the annual performance reviews
Requisites
- An Honours degree in Accounting/Finance (NQF level 8)
- Must be a registered Chartered Accountant – CA (NAM)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a banking finance environment or similar of which 2 years should be in a supervisory or senior position
