City of Windhoek is recruiting a Chief Engineer: Protection & Systems, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Responsible for the management of the Protection & System Division which is responsible for the installation, commissioning and maintenance of reliable protection, telemetry, substation automation, metering, pre-payment metering systems, safe electricity installations, demand side management, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects within the City of Windhoek
- (Patterson - Grade D5)
- Basic Salary: Minimum N$823,416.00 – Maximum N$968,760.00 PA
- Housing Allowance – N$ 387,504.00 PA
- Vehicle Allowance – N$ 246,4516 00 PA
Duties
- Responsible for management and engineering capital expansion and maintenance of reliable protection, telemetry, substation automation and quality of supply system
- Responsible for managing quality performance of the City’s metering and pre-payment metering systems and introduction of new metering methods
- Responsible for management of inspection of all electrical installations and attend to illegal electricity connections
- Manage the division & job activities of the staff members
- General administration duties

- Innovation and Personnel Development
- Responsible for demand side management, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects
Requistes
- Qualification:
- B.Sc. Engineering Degree or B.Eng./B-Tech Degree: Engineering or as required by ECN to register as Incorporated/Professional Engineer
- Experience:
- A minimum period of eight (8) years post graduation experience with three (3) years in management role for a Professional Engineer OR ten (10) years post graduation experience of which six (6) years in management role for an Incorporated Engineer
- Legal Requirements - Professional Status:
- Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia as a Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer
- Legal Requirements:
- A valid code B/BE or bigger drivers’ license
