Wilderness is recruiting a Lodge Guide, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- Wilderness Namibia is looking for a passionate Lodge Guide who can provide quality guided trips to guests in a professional and friendly manner and who is motivated to go above and beyond to exceed guest expectations
Duties
- To lead guest on activities in remote areas where we operate
- Share your knowledge of animals, birds, flora, fauna, environment and heritage generously with all of your guests
- Eat meals with guests (where space and invitation exists), and entertain them, whether at the bar or whilst sitting for a meal
- Be a host and make the guests feel special and looked after
- Ensure that arrivals, departures, activities, pick-ups and drop-offs are executed timeously
- Guides are responsible for the guests’ safety: safety talks must be given prior to every activity to guests at all times
- Ensure that the vehicle checks are done daily and signed off on the checklist. Report all faults immediately to the manager and mechanic
- Assist with driving/staff transfers when required. You are required to comply with all Wilderness Safaris road regulations whilst working as a guide
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor / manager
Requisites
- A trained guide who has had at least 2 years guiding experience in Namibia
- Qualified with either NATH Badge , 2 or 3 - equivalent guiding qualification
- A valid drivers’ license ( with at least 1 year of driving experience) and Public Driving Permit is a prerequisite
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Good Command of spoken English
- Professional, responsible, resourceful, smart and independent – with a natural instinct to be a wonderfully sociable host
- Communicating using good interpersonal and selling skills, being able to relate well to guests, peers and superiors
- A keen understanding of the ethos of bush life, with a plainly apparent respect and compassion for conservation
- Understand health, safety and hygiene procedures, regulations and application to the responsible area
- Adaptable, creative and able to work at short notice
- Ability to source and utilize information appropriately
- Ability to work under pressure and changing workloads
