Duties
- The Health and Safety Superintendent provides assurance to management on health and safety requirements as per the relevant legislation, other requirements, and best practice principles
- The incumbent will guide the organization in complying with regulations, reducing risks, and fostering a culture of safety awareness
Requisites
- Diploma or Degree in Risk Management or equivalent qualification linked with the relevant experience, (Major subjects Safety & Risk Management and Safety Law – Added Advantage)
- Six (6) to Ten (10) years’ experience as a Senior Health and Safety Officer in a mining and/or production environment
- Code 08 Driver’s License
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Ms Word, Excel, Ms PowerPoint)
- Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices
- Strong Planning, Organizing and Coordination skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to determine the course of accidents where evidence is obscure
- Investigative mindset reporting incidents and accidents, providing thorough reports and recommending corrective actions
- Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish safety objectives and action plans
- Strong Leadership, Coaching, Networking, Team, and People Management Skills
- Ability to demonstrate Emotional Intelligence with a high regard for Integrity
- Ability to apply expertise and technology
- Results Oriented, with the ability to Work independently a pay attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm under stressful circumstances not afraid of heights or cluster phobic
