- (SP8) - Credit Department
- The Credit Portfolio Analyst will play a key role in maintaining the health and stability of the credit portfolio by providing accurate analysis, assisting with automation of the credit process, modelling and contribute to the attainment of the Capricorn Group’s objectives by supporting in the oversight of Credit Risk in the Capricorn Group
Duties
- Credit Portfolio Analysis:
- Analytics
- Utilize the statistical and machine learning techniques to support the Credit Portfolio Manager to perform in-depth analysis of the bank’s credit portfolio, assess credit risk, identify trends, and measure credit performance across various
- segments
- Data Management
- Collaborate with Digital Data & Customer Transformation Department, IT, Resource Centre, and any other similar units to source, integrate and maintain relevant data sets
- Gather, organize, and validate data required for model inputs
- Reporting
- Prepare regular reports such as business performance and board reports and ad-hoc reports on the credit portfolio and communicate findings to the credit portfolio management team to support informed decision making
- Create and maintain credit portfolio dashboards
- Regulatory Compliance
- Stay abreast of regulatory requirements related to the credit portfolio
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines and assist in regulatory reporting as needed
- Supporting Digital and Credit Process Automation:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and improve the digital credit application process
- Conducting regular audits of the digital application system to identify and address any operational issues
- Modelling:
- Develop and improve models relating to the credit portfolio, including application scoring models and any other models in use
- Maintain and improve the ROE model
- Support Group Principal Risk Owner (GPRO) Credit:
- Support the GPRO Credit in execution of, but not limited to:
- GPRO Quarterly Risk Assessments
- Risk framework self-assessment monitoring
- Principal Risk Profile (PRP) review/discussion
- Policy compliance, waivers and dispensations
- Cross Functional Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with the credit managers, branches, financial risk and finance, among others, to support a wholistic credit portfolio analytics
- Explore and implement innovative credit analytics methodologies, tools and technologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiencies of credit portfolio analysis

Requisites
- Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
- Minimum 5 years working experience in analytics, modelling and risk management, either in credit or other risk types and preferably in a financial environment
- Good knowledge of risk assessment and control methodologies within a retail and commercial banking business
- In depth knowledge of credit risk policies and other governance frameworks and policies
- Good organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to clearly express the logically reasoned ideas
- Modelling and analytics
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to work without supervision and manage a specialised team
- Reasonable knowledge and skill in the operations of Python, SQL, PowerBI, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and willing to learn some of the advanced features of these software packages
- Reasonable knowledge of and experience in research and analysis methodologies
- Reasonable knowledge of governance control requirements (e.g. Basel II, BoN Bids relating to credit) and regulatory and industry standards (e.g. Namcode and King IV) will be added advantage
- Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence
- Qualification:
- B-degree Honours or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Portfolio Management, Risk Management, or research related
- Studying towards relevant certifications (e.g. CFA, CA, FRM or other quantitative related) are an advantage
