NAMFISA is recruiting an Actuarial Specialist, to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The purpose of this job is to support the Actuary in providing specialist actuarial support and advice to the supervisory divisions in carrying out supervisory and regulatory work as enshrined in the core mandate of NAMFISA
- In addition, the Actuarial Specialist shall be assigned any other work covering research, statistics and policy matters to which his/her professional skills are deemed relevant or appropriate by the Actuary
Duties
- Risk assessment through on-site and off-site inspections
- Data management (statistical update, data capturing, general administration, financial returns, financial information)
- Assess documentation for recommendation to the Senior Financial Analyst
- Prepare consolidated statistical reports on the performance of regulated institutions
- Enforce compliance by verifying and monitoring whether the business is being conducted in accordance with the relevant legislation
- Stakeholder engagement
- Participate in Consumer Education interventions
- Maintain the regulatory and supervisory framework by researching on international best practice principles and making recommendations on the course of action
- Innovation
- Categorization of entities in terms of Supervisory Ladder of Intervention on Quarterly basis
Requisites
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial or any relevant Degree with a Quantitative Major
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a financial environment
- Making significant progress with Actuarial professional exams with either ASSA or IFOA or any equivalent board including a pass/exemption in Actuarial Risk Management, and preferably all of the CT’s (or equivalent subjects)
- Knowledge Of:
