Agra is recruiting a Head of Procurement Retail Wholesale, in Windhoek, Namibia.
Description
- The successful incumbent will be based at Corporate Office and report to the General Manager: Retail & Wholesale
Duties
- Proactively ensures the Procurement team implements relevant strategies to increase revenue, margin and market share growth within the Retail & Wholesale Division
- Proactively ensures effective stock management and return on stock investment
- Proactively identify new business opportunities for expansion and implementation
- Plan, Develop and Implement effective promotional plans and strategies
- Managing the procurement team to ensure that each Buyer:
- Initiates, sets-up, negotiates and monitors Agra Retail & Wholesale supplier service level agreements (SLA’s)
- Builds sound relationships and networking
- Proactively focus on stock and stock file management
- Negotiates all purchase prices from Agra’s suppliers
- Negotiates delivery and payment terms with suppliers
- Negotiates and agrees on supplier lead times
- Consistently evaluating the relevance of product ranges, and critically evaluate product listings and managing the discontinuation of poor performing stock items/ranges
- Negotiates, manages and measures stock availability from suppliers
- Negotiates supplier packages (e.g. deal structures, rebates, settlements, advertising, payment terms, ad-spent, product training, etc.)
- Manages stock level targets within the Retail & Wholesale branches
- Ensuring return on investment targets are achieved against suppliers and branches
- Setting up and managing of supplier relations and training structures to the Retail & Wholesale branches
- Together with Agra Retail & Wholesale management, set’s up recommended supplier mark-up’s to the branches
- Managing and ensuring the accuracy of loaded purchase and sales prices in Agra’s Enterprise Resource Planning system
- Managing monthly, seasonal, new store opening, birthday specials and cycle promotions as well as the profitability and effectiveness of all promotions.
- Consistent overall management and critical evaluation of product listings and managing the discontinuation of poor performing stock items/ranges
- Understanding of risk management
- Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organisation partnerships
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Take overall responsibility for the negotiation of transport tariffs, management and co-ordination of transport related to Retail & Wholesale procurement
- Managing and ensuring effective training structures are implemented from suppliers to train and increase product knowledge and application within the Retail & Wholesale division
- People management and leadership of Agra’s Retail Procurement department at Corporate Office
Requisites
- Namibian citizenship
- Relevant Qualification (e.g. commerce, business, retail, buying, procurement)
- At least 8 years of relevant experience (e.g. negotiation, buying, retail, wholesale and/or procurement)
- Adequate market and supplier knowledge
- Computer literate (MS Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning system)
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Must be able and willing to travel extensively nationally and internationally
- Exceptional Business acumen and the commercial understanding of retailing and wholesaling
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Great relationship management
- Strong understanding of national and international market trends, organizational objectives and supplier capabilities
- Valid driver’s license
