Environmental Control Officer VZI Projects (m/f)

• To support and enable our growth, we are looking for a high-energy, results-driven, and experienced individual with a proven track record in the role of Environmental Control Officer
• Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) is a grouping of Zinc assets located in South Africa and Namibia, owned by the 6th largest Diversified Resources Company in the world, Vedanta Limited. We are the largest integrated Zinc operation in Africa, with a vision to be a globally renowned brand in the base metals sector
• The Environmental Control Officer must develop and implement training material based on the Environmental authorizations and construction EMPr
• H/She will conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly inspections of the Phase 2 construction site to determine compliance to the construction EMPr and Environmental authorization.
• H/She will assist with the development of method statements regarding issues impacting the environment and audit compliance against method statements
• H/She must keep records of incidents and non conformances concerning the environment as well as conduct internal environmental compliance audits
• The Environmental Control Officer will report transgressions and non compliances to the conditionsof the EA and EMPr to the Environmental Manager

Requisites

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Biological Sciences or Physical Sciences with more than 5 years of experience, preferably within a construction environment
• S/he will have a high level of productivity both in problem-solving and idea generation in order to effectively deal with diverse and complex situations
