Debmarine is recruiting a Network Specialist (m/f), to be based in Oranjemund, Namibia.
Description
- Debmarine Namibia requires the services of a Network Specialist to ensure optimum availability and efficiency IM computer
networks, to plan all future network software and hardware and to co-ordinate the activities of the network section
Duties
- Maintains detailed knowledge of current practice within the area of expertise/specialism, interpreting developments
- Evaluates network control system software requirements and generates the necessary software to cater for communication links and other software resident on the back-office infrastructure
- Plans and co-ordinates the ordering and installation of network cabling, devices and controllers by considering new requirements and existing facilities
- Co-ordinates implementation of network system software into the primary communications equipment (e.g. preparing
installation/contingency plans and ensuring loading, testing and verifying of system operation)
- Initiates requirements of new or additional devices by determining users needs, performing capacity planning exercises,
evaluating availability of new technology and making recommendation
- Plans and draws up an installation programme for all new or additional network deployment
- Generates all configurations on network equipment to ensure correct operation of all devices on the network
- Completes a post project evaluation to ensure all installed equipment performs as per specification
- Receives requests regarding all faulty equipment from users, prioritizes the re- quest, allocates tasks to subordinates/
suppliers and follows up to ensure the tasks are properly completed
- Advises and assists Information Management staff and end users on issues regarding network, LAN/WAN, graphics and
peripheral related problems
- Manages and controls subordinates for optimum utilization
- Takes cognizance of, adheres to and promotes Corporate Governance and Company policies and procedures relating to
health, safety, security and environmental issues
Requisites
- Key Competencies Required:
- Computer applications - MS Office
- Information technology direction
- Knowledge of Namibia’s Labour Law
- ITIL and COBIT
- Cisco Applications
- Project management
- Network design and typology
- Analyzing, learning and researching
- Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) or equivalent
- International Cisco certification; Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Six (6) years relevant experience in the server and network environment
- An in-depth knowledge of MPLS and QoS
- Code 8 Drivers License
