Swakop Uranium is recruiting a Senior Engineer: Maintenance (m/f), to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
- To lead a competent team of mechanical-trained subordinates for the effective and efficient maintenance of all machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure that production targets are achieved, at maximum workshop availability and optimum cost, including adherence to job safety and good housekeeping standards
Duties
- Develop, recommend and implement strategies for improving equipment and process reliability
- Lead the formulation, planning and implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and
- Reliability Centered Spares (RCS) philosophies and techniques on the mine to achieve Swakop Uranium’s (SU) Asset Management Strategy
- Co-ordinate the application of RCM/RCS to minimize costly equipment failure and downtime through precision monitoring of operations
- Monitor and quantify reliability cost savings, increased production and/or equipment life cycle costs
- Generate and utilize data to identify and analyze losses to identify improvement opportunities
- Provide assistance to maintenance and Project teams with processes for effective critical spares analysis, PM optimization, condition monitoring, etc.
- Plan and execute reliability projects on the mine, including contractor management
- Identify and determine areas where deviations from standard RCM practices are acceptable
- Investigate and resolve user problems, initiate system corrections, monitor and expedite system changes-in-progress and test corrections and enhancements
- Draw up and implement RCM implementation plans and objectives
- Implement and maintain cost control and continuous improvement measures
- Analyze RCM data/reports, investigate causes of delays and deviation and implement action to optimize process performance and efficiency targets
- Maintain the integrity of the reliability centered maintenance and reliability centered spares management system data and report functions by developing and implementing technical standards, specifications and quality systems
- Develop, investigate and implement enhancements to the reliability centered maintenance and reliability centered spares system at plant level by assessing the benefits of latest trends and developments and making recommendations
- Develop and implement audit programs to assess the effectiveness and compliance of reliability centered maintenance and reliability centered spares philosophies and techniques
- Utilize RCM/RCS analysis effectively in the implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance tasks in order to determine service periods with minimum production interruption
- Ensure that a common system of RCM key performance indicators, to meet internal/off-mine reporting requirements, is implemented and adhered to and corrects deviations, as required
- Establish and maintain a register of RCM management, pertaining to equipment standards, work standards and job deviations
- Guide effort to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems
- Identify production losses and abnormal high maintenance cost assets, and recommend initiatives to reduce losses or high costs
- Apply data analysis techniques, root cause analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS) in order to develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures, and all other problems that adversely affect operations
