Namibia Institute of Pathology is recruiting a Chief Legal Officer (m/f), to be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
Duties
- Overall, the incumbent will be responsible for:
- Legal counsel and compliance including oversight on governance and
adherence to country laws, regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.
- Oversight leadership and management of the legal and compliance functions,
supports and guides the CEO, Board and management on legal and
compliance matters relevant to NIP
- Ensuring that the compliance records are kept according to the statutory
requirements and good corporate governance and compliance practices. This
position is required to develop and recommend legal and compliance policies,
procedures and controls
Requisites
- Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in law or LLB and admission as a Legal
Practitioner in the High Court of Namibia
- Master’s Degree in the relevant Legal field. Specialization in Business or Commercial Law will be an added advantage
- Extensive knowledge of Corporate Governance and compliance
- Highly knowledgeable on industry regulations, laws and governance
directives Legal research skills, with an ability to review and interpret highly
technical, legal and compliance information and data
- Analytical skills - analyses legal contracts and agreements, and make sound
judgement to communicate technical, legal and compliance aspects to a non
-technical audience
- Leadership skills, verbal and written communication skills, strong judgment
and decision-making abilities, negotiation skills, strong interpersonal and
networking skills, problem solving and decision-making skills, highly
organized with a strong emphasis on planning and time management skills,
technology savvy
- Ethical conduct, sound reputation and high integrity with a good
understanding of data privacy and confidentiality standards
Ability to identify and resolve legal, compliance and governance challenges
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key
stakeholders
