Rössing Uranium is recruiting a Foreman Logistics (Acid, Rail & Final Product) (m/f), to be based in Arandis, Namibia.
Description
- A vacancy exists for a Foreman: Logistics (Acid, Rail & Final Product) within the Logistics Section in the Supply Chain department reporting to the Superintendent Logistics. The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of hazardous chemicals handling both on-site and at the port of Walvis Bay including maintenance and storage facilities. He/she must ensure safe loading and offloading of sulphuric acid, acid rail tankers and road tankers. Responsible for rail transportation, coordination, administration and supervision of packing and transportation of the final product to the port
Duties
- Maintaining HSE standards
- Supervising and ensuring that subordinates complete their tasks according to set plans, defines clear priorities
- Liaising with quantity surveyors to do the sampling and testing of product at source and port of entry
- Continuously informs and updates Shipping agents and RUL stakeholders with regards to Vessel movements and arrival times
- Performing area inspections and identify any substandard equipment, defects and leaks
- Ensuring that correct type of containers is used for each shipment by following up with the shipping agent and ensure that all new containers are meticulously cleaned and de-contaminated
- Coordinating and planning effective dispatches of major consumables by rail or road either from Mine site to Harbour or the return leg
- Collaborating with Rail Service Provider to discuss schedule of train, demurrage charges, integrity of rail tankers and locomotives
- Maintaining and managing effective liaison and communication systems with government authorities and third-party transport & shipping entities
Requisites
- Grade 12 certificate
- A recognized 3-year National Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain Management (NQF Level 6); OR National Vocational Fitter/Millwright Trade qualification with Level 3
- Five (5) years working experience in the supply chain/logistics/mining/technical environment specifically in logistics, handling, and transportation of hazardous material and goods (Sulphuric Acid and Final product) of which three (3) years should have been in a supervisory role
- SAP/Enterprise Resource Planning system experience would be an added advantages
- A valid code BE driver’s licence
