CGN is recruiting a Senior Engineer: Projects (m/f), to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Description
- To complete small engineering and construction projects, by planning, organizing and controlling all elements of the project and executing the defined project within time and with budget provisions. Oversee contract work activities and ensure compliance with all SU SSHER-Q requirements
Duties
- Develops project objectives, by reviewing project proposals and plans, and conferring with management
- Identifies project responsibilities, by determining the phases and elements of the project, overseeing and co-coordinating the technical aspects of the project, through project coordination meetings and other forms of communication
- Controls project plans, by reviewing design/drawings and specifications, plans and schedules changes, and recommends changes
- Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of the project, like technical studies, design/drawings, preparation of specification, technical plans, in accordance with engineering disciplines of staff
- Reviews bids from contractors and determines project responsibilities, by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements of the project
- Makes recommendations regarding preferred contractors, special contract condition
- Allocates project resources appropriately and controls project costs, by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions
- Maintains project integrity and reputation through compliance with Company and Government regulations
- Develops effective working relationships with consultants, stakeholders, suppliers, Governmental authorities and relevant service providers
- Complies with Company job safety and good housekeeping standards/practices at all times
Requisites
- BSc or B-Tech Degree in Engineering
- At least 8 years’ experience preferably in a processing mining industry of which 4 years should have been in projects environment
- Proven experience in multi-disciplinary projects and exposure to research and development work for improved project
- Understanding of the risk management processes
- Excellent track record of contract & contractor management, people management and stakeholder engagement
- Good knowledge & understanding of risk management processes, sound experience in quality management principles/processes
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License
